The two systems are worked out separately, so in some years they stack on the same direction. Sit with the Grand Duke behind you but never face it; face the Three Killings but never sit with them behind you. None of the four takes renovation or drilling.
Reset the cures at each Lichun, because last year's placements no longer match the new chart. Run the two rules below forward and you have next year: in 2030 the Five Yellow moves from the East to the Southeast, and Eight White, the wealth star, moves from the Northwest to the West.
The central star drops by one each year, and after one it returns to nine.
The other eight palaces drop by one with it, so every star changes sector each year.
In 2029 the Five Yellow sits in the East and the Two Black Sickness star in the South. If either falls on your bedroom or front door you do not need to move: keep the sector still. No renovation, no drilling, fewer noisy or heat-producing appliances, and add metal or white objects to drain the Earth.
Xuan Kong Flying Stars (a.k.a. Nine Palace Flying Stars) change at Lichun. The 2029 chart takes effect from Feb 3, 2029 to Feb 3, 2030. Lunar New Year is the changeover for systems such as Ziwei DouShu; the two usually fall a few days apart and neither always comes first, so set your Feng Shui cures by Lichun, not by the holiday.
The star usually called the wealth star is Eight White, which sits in the Northwest in 2029, and it takes yellow or brown objects such as citrine or a treasure bowl. But the star ruling Period 9 is Nine Purple (You Bi), in the West this year, and that is the strongest sector of the year: use both. For indirect wealth look to Six White in the Southeast, which favours promotions, negotiations and travel and takes metal ornaments.
Four Green, the Scholar star, sits in the Southwest in 2029, so that is the Scholastic Sector for the year and the best place for a desk. Add four stalks of lucky bamboo (hydroponic is best) or a Wen Chang pagoda, and keep the sector clear of clutter. It works on study and exams, not on money, and the two should not be mixed.
