What Is Indirect Wealth, and Where Do You Find It in Your Chart?
It is money you can steer, but it comes and goes quickly. BaZi uses your Day Master to stand for you. It is the Heavenly Stem of the day you were born.
The element your Day Master controls is called Wealth. If it shares your yin-yang polarity, it is Indirect Wealth. If the polarity is opposite, it is Direct Wealth.
For example, wood controls earth. If you are Jia, which is yang wood, then yang earth is your Indirect Wealth and yin earth is your Direct Wealth.
Direct Wealth is like a monthly salary. Indirect Wealth is like commission, business profit and investment income, where the amount depends on timing and skill.
Finding your own takes two steps:

- Look up yours in the Jia-to-Gui table. If that stem sits on top of your year, month or hour pillar, you have it. It also counts when it is hidden inside a branch.

Which Stem Is the Indirect Wealth for Each Day Master, Jia to Gui?
Find your row, and the second column gives your answer. It is one of the Ten Gods, the ten ways your Day Master relates to every other stem and branch.
Each branch also holds hidden stems, and the strongest one is its main qi. The last column lists the branches whose main qi is this star. If your chart has one of them, it shows more clearly.

What Does Indirect Wealth Luck Mean?
It is a stretch of time when a ten-year cycle or a single year brings this star. A Major Cycle (Da Yun) is a ten-year stretch of luck. An Annual Fortune (Liu Nian) is the luck of a single year.
A Major Cycle is read mainly by its branch. If the main qi of that branch is this star, the decade tends to bring this kind of luck.
During this time, side jobs, partnerships, investments or a change of career are more likely to come up. Income may grow, and so may the money flowing in and out. Whether you can hold on to it depends on how strong you are.
Is Indirect Wealth the Same as a Windfall?
No. This star is about income that moves: business, commission, investment and contacts. A windfall is money that drops out of nowhere, like a lottery win.
The classic Yuanhai Ziping says: "Whoever has Indirect Wealth is bound to receive windfalls." That is why many people treat it as a gambling star. We read it as flowing income and opportunity, not as a lottery win.

What Is Someone with Strong Indirect Wealth Like?
People with a prominent one tend to be generous, sociable and quick to spot opportunity. These traits show more clearly when it sits on a stem or appears in more than one pillar. When it is too heavy for you to carry, they tend to go too far.

Indirect Wealth in the Year, Month, Day and Hour Pillars
The pillar it sits in shows which stage of life it touches. The stem of the day pillar is you, so in the day pillar only the branch counts.

Do You Need a Strong Day Master to Carry Indirect Wealth?
Yes. If you can carry it, it helps; if not, money moving in and out becomes pressure. How much strength you have is called Day Master strength.
Elements that work for your chart are your favorable elements. Elements that cause the imbalance are unfavorable. Elements that feed the unfavorable ones are hostile.
