12 Hour Pillars
The day splits into twelve two-hour periods, each ruled by one of the twelve Yellow Road or Black Road spirits. The Zi hour straddles midnight, so it appears twice: early Zi opens the day and late Zi closes it, each with its own pillar. Each hour also lists the almanac's own "Good for" and "Avoid". That is a separate method from the ruling spirit, so the two can disagree; an hour both call good is the safest pick.

Pillar Interactions
The stems and branches of the Year, Month and Day pillars interact through combination, clash, punishment, harm and destruction. Together these decide whether the day's energy gathers or scatters.
- Stem CombinationDing + RenMonth Pillar, Day pillar · Day Master
Two Heavenly Stems bond and hold each other; this site reads the pair as binding, not as transforming into a new element. Partnerships, contracts and alliances come together more easily today.
- Stem ClashBing + RenYear Pillar, Month Pillar
Two Heavenly Stems of the same polarity attack each other, so opinions collide. Slow decisions down and avoid confrontation.
- HarmMao + ChenMonth Pillar, Day pillar · Day Master
Branches harm each other, often through hidden loss or strained goodwill. Watch who you work with and guard against disputes.
- DestructionMao + WuYear Pillar, Day pillar · Day Master
Branches break each other, so plans shift and results fall short. Leave slack instead of committing everything at once.
